Boho Luxe Details: Turquoise Treasures

While most of you know, I am normally writing all about shoes on here, but I also have an infinite love for one-of-a-kind handmade turquoise jewelry. Ever since my latest Thanksgiving post (see latest post links on the right!) I’ve been getting A LOT of questions about where I find my boho luxe style turquoise jewelry and how to know if it’s quality, including inspiration from Gypsy Loving Light and JoJo Fletcher from the Bachelorette!

First thing – you need to look at on their website or Etsy account is where their turquoise is coming from. Do they post pictures of the raw stone by itself? Is their inventory sold in mass? What does the setting of the stone look like? Is it true sterling silver? Do your research, ask around. Do NOT buy the first thing you see unless you are obsessed with it – you will know when you see it. Read reviews, compare inventory.

I’ve pulled a few of my favorite designers and boutiques, listed below, that I keep a close eye on whenever they release new merchandise. The downfall about getting into turquoise buying is you have to act FAST. If you see a piece you LOVE, jump on it immediately because they sell out fast and if it’s a reputable seller they usually only have one piece made. However, the up side is if you plead to them about how much you loved it, they’ll usually be willing to search for another stone to make a comparable piece just for! Totally customized. A lot of turquoise and silversmiths even take specifically custom orders.

img_2399Second thing – know what you are looking for, or you will get overwhelmed. Do you want a ring? A necklace? A cuff? Do you want deep sky blue Bisbee turquoise? Do you want a stacked ring with turquoise and coral? Do you want a brighter Blue gem turquoise? A golden limonite Carico Lake turquoise? Do you want the Indian Mountain turquoise that has waves of black spider-webbing? Being familiar and knowing the history behind the stone can also help you call BS on pricing or know when you’re getting a killer deal. Knowing what stone you want will make the buying process easier.

Third thing – know your size, because most purchases are non-refundable. What’s your finger size? What’s the width of your wrist? What’s the length of your chest? Look at the measurements and take the time to measure yourself. This way, you aren’t disappointed that the ring is too small or the necklace is longer than you expected.

Now to find you your perfect piece of turquoise!

img_2419One of my main go-to turquoise vendors is Turquoise Canyon. They have some of the largest variety of styles, every kind of real turquoise including Larimar (which I talk about later) and red coral (if turquoise isn’t your color) and almost every size available.

ALLURE TURQUOISE RING, size 7, Salty Design Foundry, $140

screen-shot-2016-12-21-at-12-46-51-pmBesides my favorite traditional Bisbee turquoise it’s a close tie with Larimar, another type of sky blue stone that’s usually marbled with white. Embella Jewelry is one of my all time favorite online boutiques – shipping from the coast of Australia. I found her through Gypsy Loving Light, who also has a GORGEOUS online store, and have been obsessed ever since.

If you are looking for something unique & non-turquoise, one of my absolute favorite jewelry boutiques – Jugar N Spice – makes GORGEOUS fine jewelry as well as unique quartz bracelets like this JoJo Druzy Bracelet with white tone and 24k gold plated druzy set on 24k gold plated 3mm nuggets. There are many other styles and colors available online!

A similar design to the JoJo Druzy bracelet is DRUZY QUARTZ AGATE SLICE GEMSTONE BANGLE CUFF WITH rose gold wire wrapped quartz cuff by Salame Jewelry, $74 online!

Take Off for Thailand

It’s almost time. The day has come, and I’m about to take off on a 10 day adventure across the world to Thailand! This has been my dream trip for as long as I can remember. As you can imagine, I’ve been researching, planning and organizing all aspects for quite some time, should the opportunity ever arise to be able to go.

One of the first things I learned about Thailand is to pack VERY lightly. Thailand is a very relaxed, laid back and simple country where very little is needed when visiting – unlike Paris where if you forget your red bottoms you  may as well turn the plane around… or just buy some new ones 😉

With that being said, it was almost more difficult to simplify my “outfit plan” for my trip – yes I “outfit plan” because I am slightly OCD – due to the fact that I have to cut out all the cute dresses, fun heels and glittery ensembles. This is also because Thailand is not a materialistic country. Wearing expensive clothes and flashy jewelry only draws attention to you as a tourist/outsider and also makes you a target for pick-pocketing, which is a large problem in the Thai tourism industry.

Today I am sharing a little about the outfits I am packing with a sneak peek at my itinerary – which also works as my “outfit guide.” (I’ll be sharing more details about the different places I go around Thailand later next week!)

Hospitality: High-rise apartment in mid-city Bangkok close to shopping, temples and other attractions; equipped with an infinity pool attached to the unit.

Most excited about: Seeing all of the temples, trying new food and rooftop bars to see the Bangkok skyline!

Main threads: Cotton maxi dress, comfortable sandals, off the shoulder crop top and denim cut off shorts.

Day 1: Since we’ll be walking around and going to see all of the temples, it’s important that I respect their culture and cover up the majority of my body.

  • Make it Official maxi dress in black, LuLu’s, $38
  • Kenley New Wave Scarf in Cold Steel, DVF, $268
  • Lost Gardens silk scarf in black floral, Ted Baker London, $129
  • Addison scrappy sandal in black suede, Billini, $79.99

Day 2: Catch the remaining temples, do a city tour motor bike style, visit the floating market, famous parks and shopping center.

  • Off-the-shoulder ruffle top in light blue pin stripe, Mura Boutique, $34
  • Jack High-rise short in Sawtelle distressed wash, Lovers + Friends, $138
  • Erlina flat lace-up Gladiator Sandal in Cognac Brown, Schutz Shoes, $200

Hospitality: A private dorm-style room at a hostel close to the beach with bunk beds to fit all four of us; other travelers stay here and they offer complimentary breakfast and activity recommendations.

Most excited about: Glass bottom boat ride through Railay Beach and scuba diving at Phi Phi islands.

Main Threads: KINIS ALL DAYY

  • My go-to turquoise one piece that fits me like a GLOVE – Apia One Piece in Coastal, Cabana Anna Swimwear, $169
  • My new fave Corsica Lace Halter, $99, and Baja Cheekies, $79, in Midnight Rosebud Lace, Cabana Anna Swimwear (I’m absolutely OBSESSED with the rose gold seahorse and details on the strings!)
  • Mind Bali Soul Collection, San Lorenzo, $94+

Hospitality: A traditional Thai style condo with comfortable bedding and close proximity to all the temples and attractions.

I am most excited about: Volunteering at an elephant rehabilitation sanctuary and thai cooking class!

Main Threads: target, black swallow, sperry sandals

  • Talk about comfy staple piece – Racerback tank in heather gray,  Victorias Secret, $12.95
  • Flowy pocket T-shirt basic in black, Target, $12.95
  • Cut-off jean shorts in distressed medium wash, Rag & Bone, $165
  • These are SO comfortable and great alt to converse w/ more support: Top-sider Pier View slip-on sneaker in white, Sperry, $59.95

Can’t wait to share more of my trip with you guys! Xxx

Lace Ruffles and Cognac Suede for Thanksgiving

img_4516_retIt’s finally that time of year when you get to break out your favorite outfit, grab some champagne and apple pie and head to the fam’s house for Thanksgiving! The holidays are my favorite season of styles when it comes to emerging trends and putting together new, fun and sophisticated looks appropriate for the holidays.

Here I am going to tell you a little bit about my number one favorite look I put together that I will be wearing for my Thanksgiving festivities – and for the first time – its sparkle free (but don’t worry I’ll make up for that at New Years). Did I mention most of it is under $100!? #YAS

Whether you’re doing the traditional family reunion or walking on the wild side and attending someone else’s family reunion (AKA “Meeting the parents” of your SOS like me …Eeek!!) this outfit is versatile and fun enough for any type of setting you may find yourself in. I’m all about being yourself and embracing individuality, but if you are going somewhere new and different with new and different people – simple sophistication is KEY, and probably not the best time to wear that crushed velvet bodycon backless number you’re dying to show off. You can achieve simple sophistication by implementing classic staples while finding fun and unique ways to spin the outfit to fit your personal style and avoid fashion flaws

IVORY LACE – Classy and approachable

There’s something about lace that always makes me feel sophisticated and classy without losing any sass or personality. This is one of my most favorite tops I own. With the button detail at the back of the neck, a semi-plunging neckline and GORG little ruffle sleeves – I am slightly obsessed with his top (and its under $20!!! #STEAL).

: Contemporary Lace Overlay top in Vanilla, Forever 21, $17.90 (There’s also a GORGEOUS blush tone you could pair with a black suede mini**)

Option B – Don’t like ruffle sleeves and want super simple? – Lace top in off-white, ZARA, $25.90

Option C – Don’t do ivory/whites? Go for a rusty blush or black – Lace long sleeve shirt in Blush, Marks & Spencer London, $4

COGNAC SUEDE – Earthy and comfortable

With cute little snap buttons and handy little pockets – this cognac skirt is just too fun (and comfortable) to wear. Not to mention it’s SO easy to pair with almost any neutral or simple patterned blouse. You can dress it up, dress it down and wear it almost anywhere. Not to mention, the cognac-whiskey color makes for a soft and earthy vibe without losing sophistication. If short mini skirts aren’t your style, pairing tights would create too dramatic of a look – so go for a midi skirt or even parachute pants and swap the black OTK boots for over the ankle black boots. If you’re afraid of spilling on suede, I’ve provided a leather option for easy cleaning!

GET THE LOOK: Joie Tilda skirt in Rust, Revolve, $198

Option B – Don’t like suede? Leather A-Line skirt in Cognac, Rebecca Taylor, $195

Option C – **FASHIONISTA ALERT!!** My absolute favorite skirt I’ve seen this season (but pricey) – Floral-applique suede mini skirt in Cognac, RED Valentino, $800 (*Still available! Want help finding your size? Message me!! )

Option D – *RECOMMENDED** – Not big on buttons and want the basic? – Belted suede mini in Camel, Anna Sui, $217.50

Option E – **MIDI OPTION** Want more length? Love this ‘Gracelynn’ Suede Midi skirt in Whiskey Brown, DVF, $798

img_4267_retOVER THE KNEES – Mature and classic

OTK (over the knee) boots are all the buzz this fall season. You can wear them with black skinnies, sweater dresses, sequin minis, fur vests, shift dresses, the list goes on. Don’t be afraid to splurge here – you get what you pay for when it comes to boots, and uncomfortable heels can make for the worst kind of distraction when trying to swoon the possible future in-laws… or cousin’s cute friend who tagged along to your family’s Thanksgiving dinner.

‘Emotions’ Suede Thigh-high boot in Black, Steve Madden, $99.95

Option B – *RECOMMENDED** – these beauties stay up over the knees easier w/ the ties at the back of the calves – ‘Alllegs’ Suede OTK boot in Black, Stuart Weitzman, $798

Option C – *BEST BUY* – Suede lace up OTK boots in Black, LuLu’s, $39

Option D – FLAT – Don’t do heels? These are just as beautiful without the heel – ‘Mocha’ Fur Footbed OTK boots in Black, Catherine Malandrino, $69.97

Want help putting together your holiday look or even a full wardrobe of looks? Shoot me a message and I can help you piece together your vision and turn it into an outfit you, your SOS and family will swoon over. Just be ready to answer “OMG where did you get that?!” 😉

Happy Thanksgiving Loves ❤

Let’s Talk About Velvet Baby

Navy blue has always been one of my favorite colors – and this season it’s making a HUGE comeback with the velvet trend. From subtle and soft to crazy and crushed – this fabric has unapologetically taken the spotlight for fall/winter – including these lace-up navy beauties (pictured above) that are not only under $100, but SUPER comfortable and have the cutest gold, lace-up and zipper details – don’t worry I’m going to tell you where to find them – and they’re still in stock!

Wearing velvet is a very intricate and challenging style – not everything goes with velvet and there are definitely right and wrong ways to pull it off. While velvet has been used for CENTURIES and is known to be a comfortable fabric – one that belonged to the cloaks and gowns of Kings and Queens robes and the medieval curtains that draped castle walls – designers such as Phillip Lim and Gianvito Rossi have taken a different approach by giving that same velvet fabric a hip, sporty and sexy new name in fashion.

While I’ve mentioned velvet in a few posts recently – this is your ULTIMATE buying guide to picking out the perfect pair of velvet booties for your personal style. I’ll be posting again later this month with a fun collab for how to style an entire outfit while incorporating velvet.

THE REAL DEAL (If you’re willing  to shell it out for name’s sake…)

  1. Kyoto Bootie in Royal Blue Velvet, 3.1 Phillip Lim, $625 – These are my absolute favorite velvet bootie – while they do come with a  steep price tag, you actually have to sign up on Lyst because it is completely sold out on every outlet right now!
  2. Baroque Floral Print Velvet Bootie in Cachi , Aquazzura, $825 – I absolutely love the texture difference on these booties – it’s not soft, and its not crushed – but it has a floral pattern to it while maintaining a neutral mahogany – camel color that’s easy to pair with anything – unlike a majority of velvet booties.
  3. Nehir Embellished Velvet Sandal, Paul Andrew, $1,495 – While this is not exactly a bootie, I think it is one of the most unique, extravagant and gorgeous pairs of velvet heels I have come across yet this season. You don’t even need a reason to wear them – I would wear them to Target, I would wear them to the movies, I would wear them everywhere (JK I would probably put them in a glass box with a padlock for safe keeping from dust bunnies, dirt and thieves).

THE REAL STEALS (These are PERFECT dupes to the designer deals)!

  1. (PICTURED) Blue Velvet Lace-Up Heeled Bootie, Zara, $69.95 – this boot is the perfect height and SO cute with the black lace-up and gold hardware details. It does however run a half size large w/ a wider fit so keep that in mind when considering size.
  2. Bojana Ankle Boot in Midnight Velvet, Rebecca Minkoff, $150 – this boot is a nearly identical dupe to the Phillip Lim drool-worthy navy bootie listed under designer deals – just a tad different toe shape, slightly more subtle velvet texture and missing the silver detail – definitely not deal breakers in comparison.
  3. Logan Circle Heel Ankle Boot in Velvet Navy, Kendall + Kylie, $190 – the K+K speaks for itself – these are to die for.
  4. Luxe Velvet High Ankle Boot in Blue Navy, Steve Madden, $99.95 – this is such a fun and versatile bootie that you could dress up or wear with denim because it comes in 9 colors.. even burgundy!! (my absolute favorite color that I wrote an entire post about as well- “Bordeaux is the New Black”)

  1. Perspex Heeled Sock Bootie in Crushed Pink Velvet, MISSGUIDED, $68 – and RIGHT NOW it’s 35% off when you use code “whoa35” AND free shipping – limited time.
  2. KRAZY Pointed Toe Short Bootie in Crushed Black, TopShop, $60 – this fun velvet bootie is casual enough and short enough it can be utilized as an every day staple black bootie! Comfortable + cute = goals.
  3. Paramount Ankle Boot in Red Suede w/ Crushed Red Velvet chunk heel, Free People, $198 – this is my 2nd favorite pair out of the list – w/ a retro inspired style including a square toe and poppy red color-  ONLY the heel is crushed velvet – the rest of the bootie is a smooth red suede – making for a fun contrast yet classy enough to wear on the regular. Could pair it with a nude color jumpsuit and leather moto jacket for pop of color on a night out!

While the velvet trend will probably fizzle out – don’t be afraid to indulge in the trend and have fun with the new obsessions that come out every season! It’s never a waste of money when you’re stretching your limits and trying new things (no I don’t mean go bankrupt kind of stretching-your-pockets-type limits).

Hopefully now you know how to velvet and can take some of my recommendations and put them to good use!

Have a great day lovies,

White + Gold > Everything

There’s something about having white in your room that creates such an ambient environment – bright, airy, clean – a new day. When you open your curtains, the whole room brightens – bouncing off of your white comforter, pillows, throws.

This gorgeous bedroom inspo w/ luxe white and gold details is the perfect balance of modern white and touch of grey, gold and of course the splash of flowers. I’ve dug through some of my favorite places for decor like Lulu & Georgia, One Kings Lane, Z Gallerie and west elm. If you are looking for something that’s unique, individual to your style and within price range – these are all good options – without losing any quality. I also LOVE utilizing Etsy and Amazon for all my small decor details for things like side tables and tray settings.

While I’m more of a light ivory/taupe kind of person because I love vintage style, white decor is the next best thing in line with a modern, clean feel. I’m revealing where you can get your hands on this headboard plus a few more of my favorite items to brighten up and refresh your sleeping quarters. There’s nothing like changing up your room to change up your lifestyle. I’m no doctor, but I fully believe that refreshing the style of your bedroom can refresh the style of your life – and potentially refresh the way you sleep. There is science in color – including white.

  • Twill Wingback Headboard in White by Alcott Hill – Queen, Wayfair, $559.99 (pictured)
  • Adler Tufted Headboard in White – Queen, Z Gallerie, $599 (personal favorite)
  • Miller Studded Headboard in Cream Velvet – Queen, One Kings Lane, $375

THE COMFORTER – the key here is fabric and texture – you want to avoid the “hotel” or “hospital bed” vibe by incorporating soft microfiber or cozy textures such as quilted or tufted styles and scalloped edges or lacy trim details

  • (pictured) Belgian Flax Linen Diamond Quilt & Sham, Pottery Barn, $299
  • Organic Cotton Pintuck Duvet Cover + Shams – White – Full/Queen, west elm, $206 total
  • Chloe Tufted Medallion Comforter – Ivory White, Urban Outfitters, $189

  • Fishs Eddy Gilded Cafe Mirror Tray w/ gold, west elm, $48
  • Neffertiti Gold Tray (Set of 2), Lulu & Georgia, $133
  • Faux Blush Hydrangea Stems, Pier 1, $6.95 (x3)
  • Burnished Candles in Gold Volcano and Bronze Lagoon w/ white+black marble top, anthropologie, $18-$30
  • Agate Coasters Set of 4 or 6 Gold Rimmed Coasters in Purple, Etsy (BullCityGems), $65-$100 and there are other colors; there are also gorgeous bookends or stand alone quartzite you can use as simple decor on the tray – so make sure to venture around Etsy for great deals.
  • Louisa Candleholder, Gold – Multiple sizes, Lulu & Georgia, $20-27.50
  • Clear Glass Pyramid Tabletop Succulent Plant, Amazon (HomeIdeas), $19.99

Whether you’re a fan of white color bedrooms or not, you can use this same method of pairing and planning for the color of your choice. Whether you are going for more of a beige, dark brown or even something flashier like red or purple – it’s easy to coordinate all the right details to make your space reflect your personality.

Want help coordinating, planning and picking? I offer interior design and decorating services so shoot me a DM on instagram @seasaltandstilettos or comment below and I’d be happy to connect and help you craft your space.

Sweet dreams lovies,

Sincerely, Ss
